Juniperus chinensis 'Shimpaku' Gift Tree
The Juniperus chinensis ‘Shimpaku’ is a dwarf irregular vase shaped form of Chinese juniper that develops upright, fountain-like branches. It is used extensively by Bonsai enthusiasts because of its irregular form, peeling bark, dark green foliage and massive bunches of leaves.
They were first collected in the 1850s in Japan. It is a slow-growing evergreen shrub that typically grows to 3 ft tall and 5 ft wide over a period of 10 years. They are primarily grown and used as decoration, and at one point were a symbol of status in Japan. Within the bonsai community, this is considered the most popular. Its also adds interest to rock gardens and foundations. Unique and Zen-like addition to any garden, or indoor as a bonsai. Anyone would be thrilled to receive such an interesting tree!
